Rev. John D. Menefee, Sr., a native of Atlanta, Georgia has a tremendous passion for God’s word coupled with a desire to build and develop a kingdom of empowered people for God.Pastor Menefee spiritual birth took place in November 1980. A birth that renewed, reformed and fulfilled God’s word spoken through John 10:10; “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
The spiritual birth was preparedness for a predestined call for his life, a call to preach the word in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. Pastor Menefee responded to the call to Ministry in 1982. He began his ministry as Youth Minister in which he served whole-heartedly for seventeen years. Prior to serving as Youth Minister, he served in many roles including Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher and Male Chorus President. In 2000, he was chosen to the pastorate of Union Grove Baptist Church in Union City, Georgia.
Pastor Menefee earned an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies from Baptist International Bible Institute. He believes that rightly dividing the word of truth requires continuing study. Therefore, he continued his studies at Carver Bible College and Trinity College and Seminary
Before his call to minister the gospel, Pastor Menefee served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was employed at the Lockheed Martin Company for twenty-two years.
His road map for life and daily living is the word of God. One of his favorite scriptures is Psalm 1:
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in His law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
In addition to ministry, Pastor Menefee is both a husband and father. He is married to Trellis W. Menefee. They have shared thirty years together as husband and wife and find joy in strengthening couples through spiritual guidance.
